The way to study vocabulary

Well, vocabulary is actually essential in learning English especially for EFL learners. The more you know vocabulary the better you understand the language. Since we're child, we first introduced to vocabulary when our parents tried to teach us language. They often acquainted us with simple words like, mother, father, eat, etc. in which it's intended to make us familiar with those words and trying to imitate them all. This is actually the natural way of learning language.

Many English learners usually find difficulty in trying to comprehend the language; they think that they fail in grammar, tenses, etc. However, to me, as English learner, one of the reason in why we often fail to understand or use the language is vocabulary. We don't understand the language is not because we don't understand the grammar or anything else but rather we don't know and have enough vocabulary to understand the language. Remember that words are signs that have meaning in alternating the communications; thus, vocabulary hold very significant points on the way we learn language.

• Try to memorize at least 5 new words a day. It's very helpful in dealing with the numerous words in English. By doing this, we can enrich our vocabulary so that we can understand and use the language fully and fluently.
• Write your own dictionary. When you work with your new daily words, write it in your notebook and it will look like your own vocabulary. It's very useful to solve the problem in case you forget your words.
• Practice to use the words in the context. It is very needed for you will lose all your words as you never practise them. It's impossible to memorize a lot of words without practicing it; believe, you will lose them.
• Reread your words when you have leisure time. Did you know that one of the best way of memorizing words or sentences is reading them repeatedly. So that's what the advertisers put their banners in readable area with simple words in order to make people who see it, read it repeatedly so that people familiar with the brands.
• Try to take tests. It's very helpful in order to assess how far you have mastered the words. You can test your vocabulary skill in the website like vocabulary.com or in BBC or vocabulary.co.il. There are many more out there that offer free vocabulary tests.
